Loading Time: 45 minutes before scheduled departure time.

Departure Time:  6am, 7am or 1:30pm sharp from Onset Town Pier – THE BOAT WON’T WAIT, DON’T BE LATE! (KNOW YOUR DEPARTURE TIME)

Plan on arriving early to allow time for rod rentals ($5.00), burlap bags ($2.00), ice ($2.00 for a 5 lb bag), and other purchases.

You can also bring a 5 gallon bucket to store your fish in while on the boat. I recommend you bring two 5 gal buckets. However, you will need a separate fish cooler to transport your catch safely home. Only a lunch cooler is allowed on the boat. Your fish cooler(s) must stay in your vehicle.

Bring a “gut rag” to clean your hands while handling the bait and fish.

Return Time:  All trips are scheduled for approx. 6-8hrs (6am-2pm, 7:00am-3:00pm or 1:30pm-7pm). At times, the fishing limit is caught early in the day. When this occurs, the boat captain calls it a day, and we return to the dock and travel home.

Onset Town Pier Parking – for $2/hr starting @ 8am. (for example, if the fishing trip if from 6am-2pm, the cost is $12).

If you have a (i) veterans license plate or (ii) handicap placket, parking is free.

The ship has some passenger restrictions (i.e., No Flip Flops or Fish coolers are allowed). The ship also has many other amenities and services for an extra fee (i.e. snacks, food, drinks, fish cleaning services).  To be safe and know you like what you’re eating, I suggest you bring a small cooler with snacks, drinks and lunch.

If you are prone to becoming seasick or just nauseous, take 2 non-drowsy Dramamine, Bonine, or something similar, the night before we sail. They’re good for 24 hrs.

Mayo Clinic

If you’re susceptible to motion sickness:

·       Focus on the horizon or on a distant, stationary object. Don’t read or use electronic devices while traveling.

·       Keep your head still, while resting against a seat back.

·       Don’t smoke and don’t sit near smokers.

·       Avoid strong odors, spicy and greasy foods, and alcohol.

·       Take an antihistamine, which you can buy without a prescription. Medicines include dimenhydrinate (Dramamine, Driminate, others) and meclizine (Dramamine Less Drowsy, Travel-Ease, others). Dimenhydrinate is safe for children older than age 2. Take these medicines at least 30 to 60 minutes before you travel. Expect drowsiness as a side effect.

·       Consider scopolamine, available in a prescription adhesive patch called Transderm Scop. Several hours before you plan to travel, apply the patch behind your ear for 72-hour protection. Talk to your health care provider before using the medicine if you have health problems such as glaucoma or urine retention.

·       Try ginger. A ginger supplement combined with ginger snaps, ginger ale or candied ginger might help curb nausea.

·       Eat lightly. Some people find that nibbling on plain crackers and sipping cold water or a carbonated drink without caffeine help.
